2 more suspects nabbed in Newburgh drug raids

Two more suspected gang members have been arrested in Newburgh as part of a series of drug raids that netted nearly 80 people yesterday.

More than 600 law enforcement agents arrested 78 alleged members of the Bloods and Latin Kings street gangs last week. Authorities say they are still searching for more than a dozen additional suspects.

The suspects were later arraigned on a slew of drug trafficking, weapons possession and conspiracy charges.

In the aftermath of the raids, Newburgh Mayor Nicholas Valentine is expected to meet with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-District 22) to ask for funding for community policing and programs aimed at getting teens off the streets.
