People familiar with the Times Square bomb plot probe say the suspect said he had thought about targeting other New York City landmarks and wondered why the bomb he built failed to go off.

A person familiar with the Faisal Shahzad case says the suspect asked investigators to tell him why thegasoline-and-propane bomb left in a smoking SUV on May 1 didn'texplode. A law enforcement official says Shahzad underwentquestioning in a Brooklyn hotel room for the past two weeks.

Another official says Shahzad told authorities he had consideredbombing Grand Central Terminal and Rockefeller Center beforedeciding on the May 1 attack on Times Square.

The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition ofanonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
