Van carrying Clinton to Yale involved in accident

Connecticut state police say a van carrying former President Bill Clinton was hit from behind on theMerritt Parkway while he was on his way to deliver the Class Dayspeech at Yale University.

Clinton told WTIC-TV on Sunday that the accident was "just afluke" and that he is fine.

State police Lt. J. Paul Vance says traffic was nearly at astandstill just north of New Haven because of another accident whena civilian vehicle struck the Secret Service van carrying Clintonat a very low rate of speed.

The van continued on to Yale, where Clinton gave his address toYale seniors. He made no mention of the accident during his speech.
