Yorktown man sentenced in dog's death

A Yorktown man has been sentenced to a year in prison for killing the family dog of his former girlfriend.

Police say 21-year-old Jonathan King went to the home of his ex-girlfriend's family in 2009 - when he knew the house was empty - and yanked the collar of the Yorkie-Maltese mix so hard that her neck broke. He then stuffed the dog behind a clothes dryer, police say.

Since King has already spent time in prison while awaiting sentencing, he may only be required to serve four to five more months.
