Democratic convention officially begins

The New York Democratic Convention officially began this morning, just hours before Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced his pick for lieutenant governor.

Yesterday, leaders of the New York State Democratic Party announced that all five candidates vying for attorney general would be on the ballot for a primary regardless of how things shake out during the delegate vote tomorrow.

The attorney general race is one of many key races that Democrats will have a say in this week, including the races for governor, comptroller and two U.S. Senate seats.

Officials expect the convention to bring in thousands of people to Westchester and provide a $500,000 boost to the local economy.
