Lawyers plan insanity defense for Purchase mom

Lawyers for a Purchase mother accused of strangling her 18-year-old daughter during an argument said they plan to use an insanity defense at an appearance yesterday.

Police say Stacey Pagli admitted to killing her daughter, Marisa, during an argument in February at their family home on the Manhattanville College campus in Purchase. Pagli tried committing suicide after the murder, and once again in jail.

Pagli's lawyers say they'll try to prove that a history of depression and emotional problems caused their client to snap.

Pagli's husband is refusing to talk to his wife's lawyers, saying he will not aid in her defense.
