Consolidation a hot topic in government

During his acceptance speech yesterday, Democratic gubernatorial candidate and state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo touched on an issue he's been touting for months, government consolidation.

But former Croton Mayor Robert Elliott says the push to consolidate should not come from the state.

"When somebody from the top tells you to do something, you have a little push back," Elliot says. "But as you see here today, there are a lot of communities that are really interested in working together."

Elliot joined officials from across the Hudson Valley today to discuss government consolidation.
