Fire destroys Yonkers auto body shop

A Yonkers auto body shop has been severely damaged after a fire ripped through the building over the weekend.

Firefighters say they believe an electrical problem from a car in the shop started the blaze.

The owner of G. Gambardella and Sons at 272 New Main St. says the shop has been a part of the community for over 90 years.

The family says they plan to open up a interim auto shop next door.

Fire officials say there were no injuries related to the fire.
