Diane Wallberg encounters bear on property located on Mountainside Lane in Stony Point

A Stony Point homeowner got up close and personal with a black bear this weekend.

Diane Wallberg says a huge black bear walked onto her property Friday afternoon on Mountainside Lane.

Wallberg says the bear was less than 20 feet away from her at one point, and it took the barking of her dog from inside the house to make the animal run away.

"I think what he was trying to do was get in," she says. "I had just planted some peach trees and nectarines and I think the smell maybe attracted him out of the woods."
