Rukaj sentenced for death of classmate

(01/10/03) WHITE PLAINS - The 16-year-old teen who fatally punched classmate Rob Viscome at an underage beer bash last April was sentenced Friday.

Pat Rukaj, now 17, appeared in court Friday to hear his sentence, which is not being released because of his youthful offender status. He was expected to get probation and maybe community service.

Viscome's father says that not knowing Rukaj sentence does not bother him because it would not change anything.

While the criminal proceedings are now behind all involved, there is a wrongful death suit still pending. The lawsuit, which was filed by the Viscome family, seeks damages against Rukaj, the other teens present at the party and the couple who owned the home where the party took place.
