Man injured in Elmsford home invasion

(07/16/03) ELMSFORD - Police say about six men kicked down the door of an Elmsford home located on North Evarts Avenue, and once inside, attacked the homeowner.

Police responded to the home minutes later with crews from Elmsford, Westchester County police and the Harrison K9 unit. Cops aren't sure if the men had a gun, but say a stick was used to hit the victim over the head. Police say someone called 911 at around noon Wednesday saying their was a shooting, but that turned out to be false.

Neighbors say the victim owned a landscaping business, and they don't know why anyone would want to hurt him.

Cops say they're looking for about six African-American men in their late teens or early 20s. They think the men ran through a neighbor's yard before jumping in a gray car.

Police are still investigating, but so far they say nothing was stolen from the home.

The victim suffered injuries to his head and shoulders. He has been released from the hospital.
