Marine from Yonkers returns from Iraq

(07/19/03) YONKERS - After months of worry, a local soldier is back home from Iraq. Rawley Phillips, 19, was sent overseas in January, but on Saturday he returned home to a party thrown by his family.

Phillip served in the U.S. Marines in an artillery unit while in Baghdad. Even though major combat ended in Iraq back in May, violence against U.S. troops continues to this day. Phillips' family was concerned for the young Marine until his return home.

After Saturday's celebration, time is short for the Phillips family. Rawley will report back to the Marines on July 24 at Camp Pendleton in California. He said he plans on making the military his career.
