County baggage screeners begin testing
(07/21/03) HARRISON - Mandatory testing of all baggage workers at the Westchester County Airport as well as airports across the country got underway Monday. The testing is part of a nationwide downsizing plan brought about by Congress.
Over the next few weeks, approximately 78 workers at the county airport will sit down to take computerized tests. Workers who score the lowest will be laid off.
The Transportation Security Administration said cuts should not affect airport security, but could lead to longer lines for travelers.
