Robbers strike Briarcliff Manor bank

(07/22/03) BRIARCLIFF MANOR - Police are looking for two men who held up the Chase Bank on Pleasantville and Orchard roads Tuesday morning while holding a gun to a customer's head.

Mary Beth Symeon says she thought her life was over when she was grabbed at gunpoint by one of the men. Police say while the one robber held the customer, the other man jumped over the counter and cleaned out all the cash.

However, as the two fled on foot the red dye backs went off so they dumped the cash in a nearby parking lot. A witness told police that the two men then got into a green car.

Police helicopters and dogs were unable to find the two men. Investigators say they will now look at the bank's surveillance tape.
