Harrison pastor accused of sex abuse
(07/23/03) HARRISON - A Roman Catholic priest from Westchester has been suspended from the ministry after being accused of sexually abusing a boy at least 20 years ago.
Rev. Lawrence Inzeo, the pastor at St. Anthony Padua in West Harrison for eight years, has been suspended and accused of abusing the boy while at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Newburgh. Inzeo was assigned to the Church of Sacred Heart for five years after his ordainment in 1979.
Inzeo also celebrated mass at Resurrection Church in Rye and Saint Frances of Assisi in Mount Kisco.
Inzeo is the 14th priest in Westchester to be removed after sexual allegations came to light.
A review board will now look at the case and make a recommendation about the validity of the claim. If the accusations prove to be true, not much can be done legally because the statute of limitations has expired.
