Dobbs Ferry cleans up after mudslides

(08/05/03) DOBBS FERRY - Torrential rains created messy situations for some Dobbs Ferry families after their homes were struck by mudslides.

Homes at the Livingston Ridge Condominium Complex near the Dobbs Ferry train station were hit by mudslides forcing fire officials to evacuate residents Monday. Dobbs Ferry Fire Chief Jim Walsh says the drainage system was not designed to handle so much rain.

So now construction crews are installing a new drain basin and re-routing the drainage pipe. Officials hope this will prevent another mudslide from happening.

Meanwhile, cleanup at the complex is underway. No one was hurt during the mudslides.
