Yonkers thieves make off with thousands

(08/08/03) YONKERS - Police are looking for the two men who robbed a car dealership worker at gunpoint after he cashed payroll checks for employees.

Police say Jesus Oregana, who works at Gidron Auto Dealership, was forced off the road on his way back from the bank by two men armed with guns and wearing masks. The men made off with $40,000.

Dick Gidron, who runs the dealership, says he is grateful that nothing happened to Oregana.

Police say they are looking for a black neon that was last seen heading towards the Bronx. Police are not sure yet if the thieves knew Oregana was in possession of the payroll or it was a random crime.
