Witness helps capture robbery suspects

(08/09/03) BEDFORD - The three men believed responsible for a string of recent bank heists in Westchester are behind bars. The suspects were captured in North Castle, courtesy of a quick-thinking employee.

The employee of a Bedford business near the Chase Bank that was robbed a month ago says he saw two suspicious men in the parking lot outside the bank on Friday. The employee became suspicious when he noticed one of the suspects wearing a heavy sweatshirt with a hood on a hot August day.

After the suspects drove off in a Lincoln, the employee contacted authorities and gave a description to the police and FBI.

The three men who were later arrested are Furman Odem, Victor Marrero and Laron Reid. They may be responsible for a string of robberies in Westchester County, and they currently face federal bank robbery charges.
