Cops make weapons bust in Mamaroneck

(08/12/03) MAMARONECK - A Mamaroneck man is behind bars after police discovered an arsenal of weapons and bomb-making equipment in his apartment.

John Gilbride was arrested when police learned that he allegedly had intentions of harming others. Police found loaded rifles, cases of ammunition, brass knuckles, nun-chucks, bomb-making equipment and an Uzi inside Gilbride's home. The discovery was made after police received a confidential tip.

According to District Attorney Jeanine Pirro, Gilbride was no hunter. She says he was planning on using the weapons on certain targets but she won't say who. Pirro says an Anarchist Cookbook on how to make a bomb was also found in the apartment.

Gilbride is being held at the Westchester County Jail. If convicted he faces seven years in prison.
