Power restored to all of Westchester

Westchester officials announced Friday evening that power in the county is restored.

Shortly after 5:20 p.m. Friday, power was restored to all of Westchester. There still may be some sporadic outages, but Con Ed is doing all it can.

Governor Pataki (R-NY) was in Westchester Friday and vowed to get to the bottom of what caused the massive blackout Thursday. Pataki commended Westchester residents and officials for their cooperation and quick response during the crisis.

Meanwhile, travelers at the Westchester County Airport have had to endure long lines and delays due the blackout. One traveler said he couldn't believe such a crisis could happen in the year 2003. As for the rails, Metro-North service is still suspended.

County officials say they will continue to monitor the situation. There are cooling centers still open for anyone who may still be without power. Anyone still in the dark is asked to call the County Hotline at 1-800-752-6633.
