Westchester County beaches remain closed

Possible contamination has forced all county beaches to close for the weekend.

The health department says sewage may have flowed into the ocean from water treatment plants as a result of the power outage. Although the beaches are closed, some residents did head out to Rye Playland beach but stayed out of the ocean.

County officials recommend that pool operators run their pump system for two hours before letting swimmers in the water.
