Suspect arrested on Yonkers rooftop following foot chase

A suspect led police on a foot chase through city streets in Yonkers on Saturday morning. He was finally arrested on a rooftop near the corner of Warburton and Lamartine avenues.

Yonkers police say the man was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Lamartine and Warburton avenues. After the car accident he fled the scene. An officer stopped him and then he assaulted the police officer.

Police say they chased the suspect down Warburton Avenue and looked for him inside some apartment buildings. When he finally showed up on the rooftop he was arrested by police. The Yonkers Fire Department had to come in with a ladder truck to help get him down.

The suspect is facing several charges including leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and trespassing.
