Motorcycle driver killed in accident with car on Saw Mill River Parkway

(08/24/03) IRVINGTON - There was a deadly accident on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Irvington just before 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. A motorcycle and a car collided, and the woman driver of the motorcycle is dead.

Traffic was snarled for hours at the accident scene on the northbound side of the Saw Mill River Parkway, near the old Cantina Restaurant at Woodlands Lake. That is just south of where the Saw Mill meets the New York State Thruway.

Police are not releasing the dead woman's name until her family has been notified. At this point, police say it does not appear alcohol was involved, and they have filed no charges against the driver of the car. As police gathered evidence, including pieces of the broken motorcycle helmet, the parkway was completely shut down in the area.

Westchester County police tell News 12 Westchester no laws appear to have been broken leading up to the crash. They added that the victim was not a Westchester County resident.
