Iona College students prepare for upcoming school year

College students began settling into their dorm rooms to prepare for the new school year.

Lauren Salvatore, a student at Iona College, says staying relaxed is the key to adjusting to the college life. With classes beginning next week, Salvatore is getting ready to help the new students get situated in the dorm rooms. The freshmen will be moving in on Sunday.

In addition to getting settled in and helping others, Salvatore is also moving into a new dorm that was recently completed. After 18-months of construction, two new resident halls are ready and waiting for the influx of students.

Resident Assistant Thaysha Menardy says it's exciting that the resident population has almost double. But she says one word of advice to freshmen is to stay focused on their studies.
