Mother says school is responsible for Tuckahoe teen's death

A Tuckahoe teenager apparently took his own life this past May, giving rise to very different stories regarding his character. The teen's former girlfriend claims he stalked and strangled her, while his mother says her son was a kind, loving person who was driven to suicide after vicious rumors and accusations at school. Now, his mother is suing the school district claiming her son's civil rights were violated by a gym teacher, and that a combination of lies and false accusations led to her son's death. She claims the teacher assaulted her son.An incident between the teacher and the teen resulted in the teen's suspension from school, but the teen's mother and her attorney say the teacher should have been suspended instead. The teen's girlfriend is also suing the school district, claiming that the school failed to protect her from her former boyfriend, who she says had a history of violence. The school district's attorney says he's confident it will be found that the district's actions were appropriate in all regards.
