Verizon and CWA Local 1103 may be close to settling contract dispute

The threat of a strike by Verizon workers in Westchester may soon be over.

Local negotiations between Verizon and the regional bargaining unit of the CWA Local 1103 have been ongoing at the Rye Brook Hilton. A spokesperson for the local says they are hopeful that an end to the dispute may be in sight.

Thousands of Verizon workers in Westchester have been without a contract since August 3 over issues that include job security and health care costs.

For now, members of the CWA Local 1103 are looking over Verizon's latest proposal closely. The union has not indicated when it will make a decision.
