Mount Vernon man gets 25 years to life for stabbing death of a Yonkers teen
The man convicted of killing a Yonkers teen in 2000 gets the maximum sentence.
Shawn Grant was sentenced to 25 years to life for stabbing Malachi Henderson to death after an argument back on March 18, 2000 outside a Yonkers apartment building. The district attorney's office says Henderson was trying to act as a peacemaker while Grant and another man were arguing.
Grant was not arrested for the crime until more than a year later. He was found guilty of murder back in July, but still insists he is innocent.
Henderson's sister says she's glad it's all over. She says nothing can bring her brother back, but she's happy Grant got what he deserved.
