19-year-old man dies in motorcycle accident in White Plains

A motorcycle accident in White Plains has claimed the life of a 19-year-old Scarsdale man. Police say the accident happened at 6:30 Friday night in front of the Ridgeway and Westchester county hills country clubs.

According to White Plains police, the 19-year-old, whose name has not been released, was following a couple on their motorcycle when the accident happened.

Police say the man was riding his 2003 Honda eastbound on Ridgeway when, according to police, he lost control and hit a telephone pole.White Plains police say the man had just gotten the motorcycle a week ago. It's not known whether the driver was wearing a helmet. Police say he died shortly after impact.

Police are investigating to see if speed or alcohol played a role in the accident.

Police say the couple the man was follwing were not involved in the crash.
