Yankees' David Wells files lawsuit against Yonkers man who assaulted him

(09/06/03) YONKERS - Yankees pitcher David Wells has filed a lawsuit against the Yonkers man who assaulted him in a Manhattan Diner last year.

Rocco Graziosa was convicted of third-degree assault in November for punching the Yankees pitcher. In January, Graziosa was sentenced to 45 days in jail. He has been free on $10,000 bail, while his lawyer appeals the conviction.

Now, in court papers filed on Friday, David Wells is asking for unspecified monetary damages over dental work. He also says Graziosa assaulted him by drawing a knife and swinging it back and forth before punching the pitcher in the face.
