Challenger calls for recount in Democratic New Rochelle mayoral primary race

New Rochelle mayoral candidate Linda Levine's demand for a recount led to the voting machines being impounded.

Levine, who is a former councilwoman, was up against three-term incumbent Tim Idoni for the chance to win the Democratic nomination for New Rochelle mayor. Levine is trailing Idoni and has called for a recount.

So now the Westchester Board of Elections will begin the recounting process, which may take at least a week. Idoni says he doesn't mind waiting for the final results because he's confident that when the votes are recounted he will be the winner.

Meanwhile, Levine says win or lose she will be on the ballot in November.
