Brothers accused of multi-robbery crime spree at malls in White Plains
White Plains Police say two brothers, ages 10 and 15, have been robbing shoppers in the garages of The Westchester and Galleria malls. Police say the brothers would take the bus from Yonkers to the malls in White Plains. They would then go into the parking garage and wait for an unsuspecting shopper.White Plains Police Commissioner Frank Straub says the two young boys did not use any weapons, and none of the victims were seriously hurt. He says the brothers would snatch purses and run. Police say the robbery spree began in March and lasted until Tuesday, when the boys were caught outside The Westchester. The 15-year-old was charged as an adult with several felony counts of robbery or attempted robbery. He was also charged with first-degree sexual abuse for allegedly fondling one of the robbery victims, but Commissioner Straub says that is still being investigated to determine whether or not the boy fondled the woman unintentionally while he tried to grab for her purse. The 10-year-old brother was charged in two of the robberies as well and referred to Family Court. Both boys' names are being withheld because of their age.
