Rye Brook parade celebrates volunteer firefighters

The Port Chester Fire Department led a celebration parade Saturday to honor the hard work of volunteer firefighters.Numerous fire departments marched together in the town which serves 27,000 to celebrate the business of saving lives.Marvin Goldowsky, a volunteer firefighter, said volunteer fire departments take a big burden off village finances. Since the firefighters are volunteers, they don't get paid and only need to be provided with equipment.People came from near and far to attend the parade, including wives of the firefighters. They praised the efforts of their husbands to save lives and how much they give to their community.
