Bronx man sentenced for murder of Yonkers minister

A man who shot and killed a Yonkers minister is heading to prison. On Tuesday, Lee Hernandez was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison for the murder of Reverend Angel Colon. The murder took place in September 2002, when police found the body of Colon in his Jackson Avenue condo. Hernandez was a maintenance worker at Colon's church at the time, and police say he and the pastor had some sort of sexual relationship that ended in violence. Colon was shot in the back of the head.In addition to the murder, Hernandez also admitted to taking the minister's credit cards, and trying to change the plates on Colon's car.In court, Hernandez spoke through an interpreter and said that he was sorry for what happened, but also claimed other people were involved in the crime. He said the reverend had at first tried to help him, but then hurt him. Judge Barbara Zambelli called Hernandez a coward for blaming others when he already admitted his own guilt.
