Police standoff results in death in New Rochelle

A local community in New Rochelle was sealed off for hours after a man with a gun was locked inside a home on Clinton Avenue. The standoff ended just after 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Neighbors say it was a tense two hours as police surrounded 145 Clinton Avenue after receiving reports that an emotionally disturbed person was barricaded inside with at least one handgun.

When New Rochelle police entered the home, they found the man dead, a victim of an apparent suicide. Police have not released who the person is and are still investigating the incident.
