Flooding causes traffic nightmare on several Westchester roads

(09/28/03) WHITE PLAINS - It was a tough Sunday for some Westchester drivers. Flooding caused by the heavy rain closed portions of several major roads. The Saw Mill and Bronx River Parkways were among the trouble spots. County Police have also been busy, responding to accidents.

Slick roads caused a spinout accident on the Saw Mill River Parkway near the entrance to the Cross County Parkway in Yonkers. The accident took out one lane on the northbound side, causing a traffic nightmare. Another major road affected by the rain was the Bronx River Parkway. That roadway was closed because of flooding from Bronxville all the way up to White Plains.

Sunday night, county police told News 12 Westchester that all county parkways that were affected by flooding are now back open.
