Yonkers man gets 25 years to life for killing his live-in girlfriend

A Yonkers man was sentenced to 25 years to life for killing his girlfriend.

Paul Dudley was convicted of stabbing his live-in girlfriend Tammy Burks to death last year in their Mulford Gardens apartment in Yonkers. Prosecutors called the murder callous and claimed Dudley mopped up Burks' blood and then had a drink and a cigarette. Dudley's attorney maintained that he was simply waiting for police.

Sentencing was delayed several times because of Dudley's health problems. On Tuesday, Dudley told the court that he never meant to kill Burk but somehow he lost control.

Burks' mother says her daughter had planned on joining the National Guard. She says she thanks God that it is over and that she will never have to see Dudley again.
