Israeli anti-terrorism experts speak about preventing suicide bombings
The focus of the seminar was identifying, responding and preventing suicide bombings.
Anti-terrorism experts and members of the Israeli Defense Force shared stories of the horror of dealing with suicide bombers and terrorists. One of Israel's top anti-terror experts spoke to Westchester leaders and members of the police force about how his country has learned to cope with and often combat the threat of suicide bombers. He said although suicide bombers cannot always be stopped, people must be prepared for when something happens.
The expert also shared his knowledge of what types of devices suicide bombers use to challenge law enforcement. Chief Breen, the head of the county's terrorism task force said it was alarming to hear about the type of explosives suicide bombers use.
The experts stressed to Westchester officials the importance of information sharing among various police agencies. They say stopping people set on carrying out these attacks needs to happen early on by breaking up the agencies that fund them.
