Ceremony honoring fallen state troopers held in Tarrytown

(10/06/03) TARRYTOWN - On Monday morning, a tribute to fallen troopers was held at the State Police Barracks in Tarrytown. A trooper killed in a traffic accident in Yonkers will be one of the two men being honored.

Trooper Robert Ambrose was killed last December when his Ford Crown Victoria burst into flames on the New York State Thruway in Yonkers. His family has since filed a $250 million lawsuit against the Ford Motor Company, which makes the cruiser. Ford officials maintain their vehicle is safe.

A memorial outside the Tarrytown Barracks, where Ambrose worked, will now serve as permanent reminder of his life and that of Trooper Salvatore Embarrato, who also died in the line of duty.
