Eastchester holds its annual Columbus Day Parade

(10/12/03) EASTCHESTER - The annual Columbus Day Parade in Eastchester featured marching bands and a great deal of Italian-American spirit.

There was dancing, drumming, and police and fire trucks galore. There were also the beauty queens, Miss Columbus and her court, honoring Grand Marshal Domenic Cecere.

The crowd turned out to have more people than police originally anticipated. Many paid tribute to their Italian-American heritage. Several parade-goers said from young to old, everyone enjoyed the fun and the entertainment.

The Columbus Day festivities continued into the night in Eastchester with a live band concert and a fireworks display.
