Car crash in Yorktown leaves three teens seriously injured

An accident on the corner of East Main Street and Cooper Street in Yorktown has left three teenagers in the hospital. Police say the teens' Honda Civic appeared to be turning onto Main Street when it hit a pickup truck that was carrying a trailer.

Witnesses say the driver of the Honda was bleeding profusely and had to be airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. Two other passengers were taken to Hudson Valley Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the pickup truck was not seriously hurt. He was, however, taken to the Yorktown Police Department and arrested for a crime unrelated to the accident.

While police try to piece together exactly what caused the accident, neighbors say the intersection is very dangerous. Residents say they have seen many accidents over the years, and most are caused by speeding.

Police are still looking into the possibility that alcohol contributed to the crash.
