Delays expected as construction on the Tappan Zee gets underway
One lane on the Tappan Zee will be shut down this week due to construction.
The New York State Thruway's Interchange 8 Reconstruction Project gets underway Monday and is expected to cause delays on the Tappan Zee Bridge. For one week, one lane of the bridge will be closed and during off-peak hours two lanes will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
New York State Thruway officials are asking commuters to have a little patience while they work on creating a high-speed E-ZPass lane. Workers will also be making some improvements to the toll system and repaving the southernmost lane.
Although the latest portion of the Interchange 8 Project will be completed by the end of the week, the entire $187 million project is expected to last until the end of the year.
