Veterans feel betrayed over plan to move VA services out of Montrose

Veterans in Westchester are angry about the health care they are receiving.

Veterans across Westchester rely on the in-patient services they receive at the FDR Veterans Hospital in Montrose. But now the CARES Commission plans to have those services moved to hospitals in Castle Point and Fish Kill in Dutchess County.

At a hearing held by the CARES Commission, veterans voiced their disapproval over the plan. The vets feel that everything they were promised in terms of health care is now being taken away. Some congressional leaders also spoke out, saying the proposal should be revamped.

The CARES Commission is supposed to give a final proposal to the secretary of Veterans Affairs by the end of December.
