Prominent NYC school administrator busted in Westchester Internet sex sting
The headmaster of a Manhattan prep school is accused of having explicit sexual chats with minors online.
John Dexter, 60, of Tarrytown, is headmaster at the Trevor Day School. But on Monday, Dexter was arrested at his Tarrytown home after he allegedly had sexual chats with two individuals he believed were teenage girls. Instead the girls were actually investigators with the Westchester District Attorney's Office.
District Attorney Jeanine Pirro says Dexter is charged with two counts of attempting to disseminate indecent material to minors. She says he sent sexually explicit communications as well as photographs to the girls.
So far, police do not believe any of the students at school were victims. Officials at the Trevor Day School issued a statement saying Dexter has been placed on a leave of absence.
Dexter was arraigned on $25,000 bail. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison.
