Yonkers resident gets a Fresh Start on life

A new county program called Fresh Start is trying to help former jail inmates ease their way back into the real world by pairing them up with a mentor.Yolanda Crespo-Diaz served eight months at the Westchester County Jail. She said she got involved with the wrong crowd, started doing drugs and endedup getting busted for stealing. When Yolanda was released three days ago, she had no home, no job and no money. But now, her mentor Jane Dixon will help her begin her life of freedom. The two will meet once every week to help Yolanda adjust to her environment. The program is funded by a $20,000 grant from the Department of Social Services.
