A great-great grandmother from Yonkers bowls her way to 99
Turning 99 has not slowed down one Yonkers woman who bowls in three different leagues.
Loretta Basli is a great-great grandmother who for more than 40 years has been lacing up her bowling shoes, grabbing her ball and aiming for the pins. And at 99, she's still got game.
Loretta currently bowls twice a week in three different leagues, so what better way to celebrate her birthday than to go bowling. "I make spares, strikes, and once in a while gutter balls, but I'm entitled," says Loretta.
Joined by her 75-year-old daughter and her proud bowling mates, Loretta wished for another year of life on her birthday. She says the game is what keeps her going.
And when she's not at the bowling alley, Loretta enjoys spending time with her three children, seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
