Residents at a Mt. Vernon apartment want landlord to help get their gas back

(11/08/03) MOUNT VERNON - The gas at an apartment building in Mount Vernon has been shut off for almost a week. Some residents at the building, located on 16th Avenue off of First Street, say their landlord is not doing anything to help them.

Con Edison workers were forced to shut off the gas to the entire building on Monday after gas started to leak at an adjacent store. Tenants have been using microwaves and hot plates to cook their food since their gas was shut off.

The building's super, who would not open his door for News 12 Westchester, says the problem is being fixed and service should be restored by the end of next week.
