Wicked winds blow through Westchester knocking out power to thousands

Strong winds whipped through the county Thursday leaving a path of destruction.

Thousands of homes and businesses countywide were left without power when trees and power lines came toppling down. Wind gusts in parts of the county peaked at about 43 miles per hour.

Downed power lines sparked a fire next to St. Joseph's Cemetery, and in Hastings falling tree limbs totaled a brand new car.

Close to 10,000 Westchester residents lost power due to the winds.
