Yorktown man found dead inside his home after fire was reported

Police and the DA are investigating a fire in Yorktown that's being called suspicious. A local man, who neighbors say was John Naposki, was found dead inside his home. Officials are not sure how he died and are investigating if foul play was involved.

Investigators say at 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, neighbors called police to report a strong smell of smoke coming from the home, located on 858 Heritage Court off Route 132.

The Mohegan Fire Department found extensive damage inside the home, but firefighters say the blaze was extinguished by the time they got there. Firefighters found Naposki dead inside.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Yorktown Police Department.
