Memorial service held for two family members killed in a car crash in Somers

Family members are mourning a double tragedy for the two brothers-in-law killed this weekend.

Family and friends packed into the Croton Falls Community Church Thursday to remember two men who were close in life and united in death. Ralph Cacciapaglia, 48, of Carmel, and his brother-in-law James Covello, 48, of Pound Ridge, who were killed Saturday when their car went off the road and hit a tree. They were returning to Cacciapaglia's home after having dinner together at a Somers restaurant.

And as if losing two members was not tough enough on the family, just two days after the deadly crash Cacciapaglia's father lost his battle with cancer.

Cacciapaglia was an IBM executive. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Covello was an Emmy award winning TV cameraman and lighting director who did work for PBS. He leaves behind a wife and two children.

Investigators believe excessive speed played a role in the crash.
