Peekskill condo residents shocked over arrest of their maintenance man
Residents at a Peekskill condo are in shock over the arrest of someone they trusted.
Police say Robert Rinn, 28, burglarized at least one apartment at the Stonegate Apartment Complex where he worked as a maintenance worker.
The news has left many residents stunned. Nancy Viravec can't believe that Rinn could be burglarizing her neighbors. Another resident says Stonegate is a very safe place to live and says something like this that happens is out of the ordinary.
Police are also looking into the possibility that Rinn may be responsible for additional burglaries in the complex. Peekskill Detective Eric Johansen says there are five confirmed burglaries and all have a common thread. He adds that in each case, there was no forced entry, which leads police to believe that either a key was used or a door was left unlocked.
Rinn is being held in the Westchester County Jail. If convicted of second-degree burglary, he could face up to 15 years in jail.
